At Virgin Atlantic, our purpose is to ensure everyone can take on the world. Our vision is to be the most loved travel company. To achieve both, we're harnessing our spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to reimagine the world and create thoughtful experiences that feel beautifully different at every opportunity.
In a nutshell
As we continue to grow our network and expand our Operations Control Centre (OCC) in The VHQ Crawley, we are delighted to be launching our first ever Operations Apprentice Programme. In this role you will support our Operations Control Centre, which delivers the day to day flying programme, as well as assisting our Airport and Customer teams to deliver exceptional customer service at our base in London Heathrow or resolving ticketing issues from the OCC.
This is a great opportunity to gain a valued qualification, whilst being paid, and to also work in a variety of environments which will give you a fantastic view of how the airline industry operates. With this experience, you will also have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions at Virgin Atlantic, aided by your experience and qualifications.
Day to day
This role provides the opportunity to shadow key teams in the OCC, as well as support operational delivery across the Operations directorate, gaining key skills to lay the foundation of a successful career within the OCC or wider Customer & Operations team.
The Airline Operations Apprentice will be deployed as needed by the Duty Director to best support the operational need on the day, across 4 core functions: Operations, Crewing, Customer Care and Heathrow Airport (Above wing) services.
As part of this role, you will complete a Level 3 Ground Aviation Apprenticeship at the end of a 15-month programme. We anticipate that during your 18 month contract, you will be able to secure a permeant role in one of our operational teams, that best suits you and your career ambitions.
About you
We are looking for a diverse range of applicants who have a real passion for aviation, perhaps wanting to change careers or kick start their journey with us as Virgin Atlantic.
No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship programme - all we ask for is candidates to have excellent communications skills, enjoy problem solving and have a strong sense of responsibility with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
You will be at least 18 years of age, which is a requirement for working evening shifts.
You will need to have attained a minimum of 5 GCSE/equivalent passes including C/Level 4 Maths and English.
If this sounds like you, and you would like to be on this exciting journey, we would love to hear from you!
Be yourself
Our customers come from all walks of life and so do our colleagues. That's why we're proud to be an equal opportunity employer and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds. At Virgin Atlantic, we believe everyone can take on the world - no matter your age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, religion, or beliefs. We celebrate difference and everything that makes our colleagues unique by upholding an inclusive environment in which we can all thrive. So that everyone at Virgin Atlantic can be themselves and know they belong.
To make your journey with us accessible and individual to you, we encourage you to let us know if you'd like a little extra help with your application, or if you have any individual requirements at any stage along your recruitment journey. We are here to support you, so please reach out to our team, (recruitment@fly.virgin.com) feeling confident that we've got your individual considerations covered.
