The family programme at the V&A nurtures creativity and intergenerational play inspired by the V&A’s exhibition, architecture, and its collections. The programme provides moments of wonder and awe for families that often disrupts the museum and provides playful moments and designerly learning opportunities for the whole family.

The families team engages all types of families with intergenerational, informal engagement with the V&A collections from early years, onwards. The portfolio of the families programme includes creative making events, back-packs, self-directed resources and a vibrant programme of art, design, performance and online activities. The role will support work to expand our reach onsite, offsite and through digital and online content, with an eye to representation, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds. The role may suit someone who does not come from a conventional museum background but who has experience of delivering creative or cultural learning projects in other settings. Please outline in your application your transferrable skills, experience, and knowledge.

The Producer, Families will contribute to the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of learning activity. The main responsibility will be preparation for and the delivery of workshops, events, and projects, supporting diverse families with children aged 0-14 years. The role will support activity inspired by the temporary exhibitions and permanent collections that provide inspiration around the creative industries, to develop skills and creative confidence.

The role will also support aims to reach neighbouring boroughs building on strategic partnerships with local authorities and community-based organisations.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering activities which broaden the diversity of families engaging with the Museum. They will support the Senior Producer with (including where relevant) planning, preparation, and delivery of the informal learning programme. The portfolio of the families’ programme includes large scale events, workshops, drop-in activities, resources. Delivery of activities will take place within the Learning spaces, gallery spaces and offsite.
