Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the care, welfare, health, safety and security of all children attending the setting.
  • Responsible for following school policies at all times.
  • Support qualified staff to deliver a high standard or care, support and learning activities and opportunities to children in the setting.
  • Plan and carry out appropriate activities for children – with advice, guidance and support from qualified staff.
  • Carry out tasks and activities as directed by qualified staff
  • Assist with the physical care of children e.g. supporting children to wash their hands or during meals.
  • Ensure the environment is safe and tidy, regularly tidying away toys, cleaning up spillages etc.
  • Supervising and observing children at all times to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Keep information confidential.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the teaching team or school management team.
  • To help qualified staff keep records and complete observations of children’s development.
  • When appropriate to act as a key worker for individual children.
  • To develop your knowledge of the EYFS and promote this within the setting through the activities that you plan and carry out and the observations you make of children.
  • To engage in training and professional development opportunities as required
  • To attend and participate in team meetings.
  • To support the preparation and supervision of meals and snacks for children.
  • To provide activities and supervision for children attending our out of school clubs
  • To attend and support qualified staff and children during outings and visits.

Learning and Skills apprenticeship programmes are delivered through a mixture of face-to-face and virtual methods by our fully qualified and industry experienced apprentice training team. Using their expert knowledge gained from time spent in the industry, we’ve tailored our programmes to use the most up-to-date tools and technologies so that the skills we create can be used directly in the workplace. As one of our learners, you’ll benefit from coaching, help and guidance from our dedicated team whose job it is to ensure your success. Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Apprenticeship qualification.


Required Qualifications

Maths and English, GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent
